Modern Slavery Statement
Modern Slavery Statement for Man and a Van Putney
This Modern Slavery Statement sets out the steps Man and a Van Putney takes to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking in our business operations and supply chains. As a local removals and transport service provider, we recognise our responsibility to uphold human rights, treat all individuals with dignity and respect, and ensure that exploitation has no place in our organisation.
Our Commitment and Zero-Tolerance Policy
Man and a Van Putney operates a strict zero-tolerance policy towards all forms of modern slavery, forced labour, human trafficking, servitude, child labour, and debt bondage. We are committed to acting ethically and with integrity in all business dealings and relationships, and to enforcing effective systems and controls to ensure that modern slavery is not taking place within our own operations or our supply chains.
All directors, managers, employees, casual workers, and contractors are expected to uphold this commitment and to comply with all applicable laws and regulations relating to modern slavery and human trafficking.
Our Business and Supply Chains
Our core services include local and regional removals, van hire with driver, and associated logistics activities. While our business is relatively small and operates primarily within the United Kingdom, we work with a range of suppliers and partners, including vehicle leasing and maintenance providers, fuel suppliers, equipment and packing material suppliers, and subcontracted drivers and logistics partners.
We recognise that modern slavery risks can exist at any level of the supply chain, including in the sourcing of vehicles, parts, fuel, and materials. We therefore aim to work only with reputable suppliers who share our values and who can demonstrate their own commitments to preventing modern slavery.
Supplier Standards and Audits
To reduce the risk of modern slavery in our supply chains, Man and a Van Putney is implementing the following measures. We seek to work with suppliers who have their own published policies on modern slavery or who can show that they operate in a manner consistent with our zero-tolerance stance. We expect suppliers to comply with all applicable labour, employment, and human rights laws in the countries where they operate.
We reserve the right to conduct audits or request evidence from higher-risk suppliers, such as those involved in labour-intensive services, subcontracted driving, or imported goods. These audits may include requesting information about recruitment practices, working conditions, pay and benefits, and the use of labour agencies. Where we identify concerns or non-compliance, we will work with the supplier to address issues within a reasonable timeframe, and we may terminate relationships with suppliers who fail to take corrective action.
Reporting Concerns and Whistleblowing Channels
Man and a Van Putney encourages all employees, contractors, suppliers, and other stakeholders to report any suspicions or evidence of modern slavery or human trafficking associated with our business or supply chains. Reports can be made to a manager, a senior member of the business, or through any internal reporting mechanism that we make available from time to time.
Reports will be taken seriously and handled as sensitively and confidentially as possible. We will not tolerate any form of victimisation or retaliation against individuals who raise concerns in good faith. Where appropriate, we will cooperate with law enforcement and relevant authorities in investigating and addressing credible allegations.
Training, Awareness, and Continuous Improvement
We aim to raise awareness among our staff of the signs of modern slavery and human trafficking and the steps they should take if they have concerns. This may include induction briefings, periodic updates, and access to guidance about ethical conduct and human rights considerations relevant to our work.
Man and a Van Putney is committed to continuous improvement in the way we identify, assess, and mitigate modern slavery risks. We will keep our procedures under review as our business grows and our supply chains evolve.
Governance and Annual Review
Responsibility for this Modern Slavery Statement rests with the leadership of Man and a Van Putney, who oversee its implementation across the business. We will review and, where necessary, update this statement at least once each year to reflect changes in legislation, best practice, and our own operations and supply chains.
This statement constitutes the Modern Slavery Statement for Man and a Van Putney for the current financial year and will be reviewed and reissued on an annual basis.
